Collaboration brief

A one-page proposal format for researchers, designers and developers who want to start a project together on clear terms.

Collaborations go best when both sides agree on the question, what already exists, and what a useful first step looks like. This brief puts that in writing without turning every partnership into paperwork.

Sections

  • The problem — a specific need, question or defect, with public evidence.
  • What exists already — prior work, prototypes, licences, open questions.
  • Proposed contribution — the smallest checkable action and what “done” means.
  • Ownership, credit and permissions — authorship, licences and consent.
  • Review and next steps — who reviews, how success is tested, what would stop it.

Use it for a research correction, a design hand-off or a small open-source contribution. Remove personal details before posting it anywhere public. If you’d like to work with me, you can attach it to an offer to help.
