Bangladesh public-interest research

An ongoing programme examining public decisions in Bangladesh — and what the records can and cannot show about their effects.

A change in law is not the same as its enforcement, and a budget allocation is not proof that a service reached people. This programme organises research around those distinctions: each question must be answerable from identifiable evidence, and each piece states what the evidence could not establish.

Method

  • A chronology of the relevant decisions.
  • A source register with dates, definitions and denominators.
  • The institutions responsible for each decision.
  • The strongest competing explanation, tested rather than dismissed.

Finished work is published with source notes and a correction history. Working files and anything that could identify participants stay private. The evidence ledger used here is free in the workshop.
